Winter Incantation

                                                                     Winter Incantation
                                                                            By: Maya

In all aspects of my body, I stretch just for the satisfying feeling.
Just to know that I can.
All around me, silence grows until it becomes so massive
my steady heartbeat is forced to interrupt.
All of my thoughts are available for me to hold...this is powerful. Good.
Stillness is good. Only when I am still, I can truly engage,
commanding cells to their purpose.
As they trickle along...so does my mind.
Scenes rapidly flash as visions. I sit back, soaked up with possibility.
The day ahead is a noble steed and I, it's master.
When I close my eyes I see nothing and everything.
Nothing and everything.
Nothing and everything.
Same.
The winter wind calls out to me. As it tickles, I laugh.
Full of rejoice, I decide to kick off the bundle of blankets that restricted me during the night.
I want to feel. Everything and nothing.
I shut my eyes tight and take a deep inhale...I can predict what happens next.
My dog is near, my senses whisper.
My eyes open in confirmation.
We greet each other with our silence. His unintentional unlike mine.
My feet set down and with each gesture I take in the softness of the carpet fibers.
My day has begun.
I explode with love while I treat my fury best friend to a large breakfast.
He devours it, normally I would not have noticed, but today I watch.
Everything.
Observing how thankful he is.
How thankful this makes me.

They Live...

I recently watched a fantastic 80's flick called They Live.  The plot of the movie is about a man who discovers a pair of sunglasses that allow him to view how human beings are slaves. Subliminal messages were everywhere, telling people to consume, be self-involved and unoriginal. When the movie was over, my perception of the world and my choices altered in the sense that I was awake. The movie spoke to me. I try not to be bound by Earthly ideals, but like most, I find myself indulging every now and again. They Live helped recenter my focus from everyday distractions. I hope to try my best to float above the chaos while encouraging others to do the same. Because honestly, becoming a slave is scary.

                                        Obey.
                                      By Maya
Conform, sleep, obey.
The spiritual quest is for the ditsy man who pleasures watching sunlight dance in between the blades of grass. Internalizing the glory is without thought.
Make the discovery of your senses and competing with others synonyms.
Soothe your peace to fester up the unknown like a screaming tea kettle; run out of time
because you have it all. Win the quest you love so dear.
Unthinkable.
Do not look down the ladder, instead, carry on for the glory.
You are a creature of the night. Never please your hunger for flesh. Push past
your instincts and just do the deeds that will most benefit the contents of your mirror.
Indescribable.
See no color, only the presence and absence of light so you can win the "good fight".
Feel your stomach begin to boil when the unknown is near. Observe the miniature and set
out its' future as threatening.
Unimaginable.
Do not rise, but shrink to your heart's drum. How you see the wind is irrelevant to the deeds
you will accomplish. Never to rest and internalize the still, push yourself to ignore your calluses and blisters.
Silence.
Once your eyes close grow passion for the controlled dream.
See no light, only red is here to stay.
Conform. Sleep. Obey.

Just Breathe

Whenever I find myself stressing over life I remember that in the distant future, the situation that stressed me out will soon be irrelevant. So I just breathe slowly. In and out, in and out while I slip into my meditation trance. And even after that, if I still feel anxious, I write.

The ease of the ocean collects in the pit of my soul, allowing me to flow on top of the waves.
I hear the distant cries in the city but the anxiety cannot register in my heart.
I continue to ride the waves, they carry me out far. Far enough to where the sky takes on every color of the rainbow...all mushed into one like melting Fruity Pebbles.
I smile gently, the crinkles of my face encourages the ocean shells to snicker.
Carry on Earth.
Continue your strong heart beat...pulsating in my finger tips.
Slowly, I ease my gaze to locks of hair flowing near my feet.
Like a graceful jellyfish creating miniature ripples in the ocean bed,
A mermaid caresses my palm.
The strands of magnetic hope is attracted to me, I mirror the mermaids inviting gaze.
With no words, we communicate.
All at once, I understand what life is about.
As I ride my wave home, I murmur the secret into the grains of sand.
"Live with ease"
